Experience the Hori Kotatsu: A Fusion of Tradition and Comfort at RIKKA Soyuji
Kotatsu are a popular table in the bitterly cold winter of Hida Takayama.
The history of the kotatsu is older than you might imagine, dating back to the Muromachi period.
The hori kotatsu is said to have been created by the British potter Bernard Leach, and has a hole under the table, so you can sit on it as if you were sitting in a chair.
He was not good at sitting upright, so he suggested a type of kotatsu that you could sit on.
Please come and experience the hori kotatsu at RIKKA Soyuji.
